Memorial Day Weekend Trade Days

Get ready for a three day weekend full of fun at the annual Hubbard Memorial Day Celebration!

Saturday starts off early with a breakfast sponsored by the Hubbard VFD.

Memorial Day Weekend Trade Days entertainment

After that, a city-wide rummage sale gets underway at the Historic Fire Station on Cypress Street.  Many local residents will also be hosting garage sales this weekend, so check the local newspaper for their locations.  Others may setup temporary booths at the antique mall in town, perhaps with a treasure or two from Grandma’s attic. The Hubbard City Civic Center in downtown Hubbard is open with indoor vendors and decorated for the event.

Historic Hubbard High School is open all day Saturday.  Visitors can roam through the Hubbard History Museum, the Tris Speaker Sports Museum, and the Antique Doll Exhibit.

Memorial Day Weekend Trade Days rodeo

The Lone Star Rodeo takes place on both Saturday and Sunday evenings, at the Mooney Holloway Arena on Highway 31 East, next to the Hubbard Livestock Commission. Each show begins with a Grand Entry, including a performance by a professional rodeo drill team.  Kids enjoy mutton bustin’ and the calf scramble, and the rodeo clowns put a smile on everyone’s face.

Memorial Day Weekend Trade Days cemetery ceremony

Late on Monday morning, a traditional patriotic Memorial Day parade gets underway.  Businesses, civic organizations, ball teams, church groups, riding clubs and individuals with classic cars, tractors, horses or wagons  may show up with an entry in the parade. Following this, a Memorial Service at Fairview Cemetery is held to honor America’s veterans.

Monday’s events conclude with a fish fry, sure to satisfy the hungriest of appetites.

Dates and times subject to change. It is recommended that you confirm these with the event organizer.
