Rodeo was designated the “official sport of Texas” in 1997 and there are plenty of pro rodeos all around the official “Getaway Capital of Texas”.

Pro Rodeos

Typical rodeos incorporate both "rough stock" events and timed events, most commonly tie-down roping, team roping, steer wrestling, bronc riding, bull riding, and barrel racing. Some events are based on traditional ranch practices, while others evolved for the sport.

Kids get involved in the fun too.  Mutton bustin’, junior barrels, and calf scrambles let them try out the sport for themselves.

Rodeo clowns enter the arena for the bull-riding competition.  Their colorful costumes and their antics delight young and old alike, but their primary purpose is to protect a fallen rider from the bulls.

Checkout a real Texas pro rodeo while you’re here – you’ll be glad you did.
